Guido Alfani

Guido Alfani is Professor of Economic History at Bocconi University, Mila. He is also an Affiliated Scholar of the Stone Center on Socio-Economic Inequality, New York. An economic and social historian and an historical demographer, he published extensively on inequality and social mobility in the long run and on the history of epidemics (especially of plague). Currently he is the Principal Investigator of the ERC project SMITE-Social Mobility and Inequality across Italy and Europe 1300-1800.

Becky Allen is a Professor of Education at the University of Brighton and Chief Analyst at Teacher Tapp, the largest teacher survey in the UK. An economist by training, she is interested in how schools respond to changes in education policy and has written extensively on school performance, accountability, admissions and expenditure. As an expert in the analysis of large-scale administrative and survey datasets, she now spends most of her research time studying teacher careers and working practices.
